I'm thinking about making my main job hunt attack on Taichung County (if not city) and Hualien.

Would there be more job opportunities in Taichung County since most teachers go for the jobs in the city (I'd still try for the city first)? What about the scene in Hualien? Would there be a good amount of jobs there because it's relatively remote, or no because the population is less?

You probably won't find anything in Hualien.

Why Taichung? Taipei and Kaohsiung are so much more interesting.

Good luck finding anything on the east coast - people who get jobs there never leave (if you have ever been there you will understand why) and the market is much smaller than it is here in the west.

east coast was tough. foreigners would knock on the school gate most every day looking for work. you could be the greatest teacher in the world but for an employer to know an immediate replacement is willing to work for much less...
