I did know of one person that was able to do it though.

He got a contract and that allowed him to start his own business.

That sucks. But you're now allowed back, yes?

Wojbrian, the million dollar questions are:
1. Did you try to start a company?
2. Did you have a valid katra pobytu, or if not, were you at least within your 90 days?
3. Did you have a contract with a school?

Dynow and skarks, I'd love to see some proof that Americans can start a biz w/o a work permit. How about a link? If it's true it's got to be written down somewhere.

I posted a link a while back which clearly stated otherwise...

I've never heard of anyone setting up their company sans work permit in Warsaw. Maybe they're (or were) more lenient other cities.

I have been back twice.

I never tried to start a company. I think If I go back again that is what I will do.

I had a contract every time.

I never got a karta pobytu.

When I got my ban I had filed and done everything the right way except have a work permit.

The big problem as I see it is when you are an American you are stuck if you work for a bad school.

If I could start a business while in the US and return I would do it. Most schools don't want to take the time or effort to hire an American.

precisely why i never did the work permit route. the arrangement I had, I could smell $hit and run and it had no impact on my legality. schools in poland are so incredibly sketchy, i would never want to rely on those people like that.

there's very little they need to do aside from giving you a work "promise" showing you have employment.
