I've been asked to take an online evaluation located at this address http://evaluation.safea.gov.cn/login.php I've been told but don't believe that it's required nationally for all foreign teachers but notice nobody here is talking about it and only one school has asked me about it.

Is anyone familiar with this? The school is a college in Suzhou and is the only reason I would consider jumping though and extra hoop for the position.

I do remember some kind of online test introduced a few years ago. There were threads about it at that time. I think I was in Hainan so it would have been around 2008 I believe. Never seemed to come to much...

I've been asked to do it before. I also do not know if it is required nationally. I would not really consider this an extra hoop to jump through, it's not exactly a big deal. They likely do not use it for serious evaluation but as something to show the PSB. Just dotting i's and crossing t's would be my bet.

Very Happy I've worked in China for 11 years at six different universities in four different cities - Nanchang, Wenzhou, Wuhan and Beijing. I have never been asked to do that online English evaluation test - or any other.

I was asked to do it sometime last year, I was a bit concerned at the information they were asking for eg. passport number, where you were working, family details etc. I made up most of the information and nothing was ever said/made of it.

I did it in '09 and '10. Most of the stuff was multiple choice (in Chinglish, difficult to decipher). There was also an essay on some subject of their choosing. I just answered all of the multiple choice by picking answers randomly and typed out a quick two hundred word essay without thinking about it. Gives some underworked bureaucrat something to do. I do recall a score for "grammer and spelling". Misspelling "spelling" would have been TOO perfect, but "grammer" is still pretty good.

I started to take it a couple years ago but quit in the middle because it was so stupid. I did save a couple gems from it though:

Psychological test:

How do you feel on an early autumn morning?
A. I would enjoy the cool weather in fall.
B. A lot of leaves may have fallen.
C. I won't have any special feelings.
D. It might be a little bit cool outside.
E. It might be draining outside.

Basic knowledge:

Which room of the house is most polluted?
A. Bedroom
B. Living room
C. Kitchen
D. Toilet

I've done it twice. It's completely BS, just designed to "verify" that you're an "expert" to get your FEC or something like that. It's just a waste of time though and yeah the questions are completely ridiculous.

It only takes like 10 minutes tho and it's good for a laugh. Nothing to be worried about.

I did it in 2010 and like others found it 'quaint'.
My advice: Do it seriously and let your FAO know - also seriously, that y
