Hello, just joined...

I've been searching the forums for information about EFL TESOL etc. I found some intersting stuff, but I have a couple of questions.

first a little background.... I have a BA from a U.S. university (art)... I taught English for 10 months in Mexico, and have been working in the U.S. for 3 years (web development, graphics). My wife is Malaysian/Chinese who also graduated from a U.S. university.

So, we wanted to go to Taiwan so I could learn Chinese, but with SARS we've decided to alter our plans. We are considering going to Mexico. This is easy for me since I've done it before, and I'm fluent in Spanish. But I've started wondering about Europe. I was thinking about taking one of the CELTA courses in Spain. At one point I found something about CELTA courses being just for people from the European Union, I can't find that post again... so I'm not sure what that meant.

So my questions are.... Will the CELTA course create many more opportunities for me? How difficult would it be to stay in Spain (or Europe) and teach English there? Do you know, in Spain, could my wife find work teaching Chinese?

Thanks!

oops, hadn't checked the Spain forum... sorry.
Looks pretty difficult.... Sad
Anyway, the CELTA program should create more opportunities for me in other places, huh?

The courses would hardly be for citizens of EU states only. Jobs might be. Unless you have something special, or want to face bureaucratic hurdles, give up on the European Union. Mexico might be easier.
