Hi Mexico Board,
I'm going to be in Mex. City D.F. and will interview at a UNAM. I'm excited to see the campus as it is a World Heritage site with many paintings by famous Mexican artists. Hopefully the teaching position will work out. IF any of you presently work at UNAM please PM me.
I'm planning on staying extra time to have look around at other possible teaching opps. and enjoy the country.
I am fluent in Spanish and I want to visit a dental surgeon while there. I can ask the people at the university but I would like to line it up ahead of time and also hear from foreigners who have a good recommendation.
I looked on the U.S embassy site and while they have names they are not saying they recommend or use them.
Also are there any places around Mexico City that are a must not miss?
thanks and do pm me if you want. I'll check back in a few. |

The most outstanding highlights are usually considered to be:
Downtown
The Zcalo:
- the main cathedral
- the Palacio Nacional
- the Templo Mayor museum
Walking in the streets around the Zcalo, shops and many more museums
The Palacio de Bellas Artes - see a show or take a tour of the theatre inside
Torre Latinoamericana
- a good place to start for an overview of the central part of the city is to spend half a day (or more) on the Turibus
North
- the pyramids at Teotihuacan
Coyoacan
- the Casa Azul and Diego Rivera Museum
South
- the canals of Xochimilco
- Dolores Olmedo Museum
But if you have other specialized interests, there are scores of art, history, culture or simply off-beat museums; restaurants; focuses of entertainment and/or youth culture; and much, much more. |
