I'm currently teaching in Thailand and will be finished in a month - I'm qualified to MA level and I'm from New Zealand.
I would like to come to HK and teach for two months - is that possible? I was thinking of just doing private lessons and living with a friend there.
Would I be able to do it without a visa, or is it possible to get a short term visa?
Any information would be helpful. Thank you in advance. |

Quite apart from the illegality, if you want to do privates it would take you at least that long to build up your client base. There are doubtless dodgy language centres who would take you on, but if they're dodge enough to do so, they're dodgy enough not to pay you.
And apart from Singapore, Hong Kong is probably the most law-abiding place in Asia. If you're caught working illegally, you can't "bargain" your way out of trouble. |

| In a word. No. Illegal and you are wasting your time. You would be lucky to get any students and you would only make a few measly rubles. Don't bother. |

| Very difficult with short time and lots of crazy centers out there. Some centers plan to hire new teachers every month and not pay them. So be careful. Best to be cash only so they can not have the opportunity to plan a scam on you. |
