Does Malaysia need it's own forum?

Does it seem that there are enough posts about Malaysia to warrant it?

Yeah, why not? I have seen enough threads related to Malaysia to warrant it.

I understand that Indonesia is a larger country and bigger ESL market, but Singapore and NOT Malaysia?

Especially with whatever that Ministry of Education program that keeps on taking 100s of teachers per year.

How about a combined Brunei, Malaysia, and Singapore forum?

Or a SE Asia forum for the countries that don't have their own; I think a General Asia forum is a bit too general - Asia's a big place with its own distinctive areas.

I was recently called by my local Yayasan to meet with the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia. They want to send a bunch of Peace Corps volunteer teachers here and have the Yayasan oversee them.

And then, the son of a friend (Malay) told me that they have an American English teacher at his high school! I think that it is under a different program, but the point is...

...there are a lot of Americans coming this way!

So yeah, it would be nice to a have a Malaysia-focused forum.

And I would continue to contribute.

Keep in mind that Singapore already has its own forum.

Also, the Middle East has its own forum and North and most of Central Asia are included in the Russia & CIS forum. This leaves the "Far East" which admittedly is still a big place, covering everything from Afghanistan to Mongolia to East Timor.

True, but the Singapore forum is so quiet - it goes weeks without a post sometimes. I was just thinking that a bit of regionalisation might make things easier to find especially as many posters say the search function doesn't always work.

I don't quite get why Cambodia, India, the Phillipines, and Singapore have their own forums when they get such little traffic, but Malaysia, Brunei, and Laos don't when, arguably, there's as much interest in them as the former countries.

Anyway, to misquote Tennyson, mine is not to reason why...

I wouldn't mind a Singapore/Malaysia forum. It would be a good grouping. I'd imagine they both get about an equal amount of inquiries as well.

I think there should be one for itself.

I agree, it would make sense to have one. But it is not going to happen - this site hasn't been updated in years.

Not true.

This site has added several country forums over the years and there have been other updates, as well.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a Malaysia forum on the horizon.
Cool

A Malaysia forum is on its way and we should see it before too long.

Thanks to all for the input you provided in bringing this about.

MOD EDIT: It has arrived. Have fun!
