Hi, is there anyone here who has any information about the ESL scenario in Panama? I see hardly any Panama posts here...

There were a couple peopel who worked in Panama, pirateinpanama, I believe. People who do usually get a visa through marriage. It' seems very difficult to get a job as a TEFL teachers.

Unless you are hired by an International School who sponsors your visa and work permit, you can forget it. I have gone through several lawyers all trying to figure out how to get work permits and all tell me that they should get married to Panamanians. (That info is current as of this afternoon, by the way.)

Most teachers here are working illegally and have visas based on family members having jobs which entitle the rest of the family to come along. The spouse of an executive cannot take a job, for example, but she can take her chances if she really has to make that $2/hr.
