So I have two job opportunities with similar pay a little less in Phuket and a little less vacation time in Phuket. Where would you choose to work the beach or the city and why? I'm stuck in my decision Loving the beach and wanting to get a better experience of the city. Any insight you might have would be much appreciated. |

Living in Phuket as a TEFL teacher and holidaying in Phuket as a tourist are two different things. I'm wondering you're not of the tourist mind set still yet will only be living on a TEFL salary if you accept the job. You'll be setting yourself up for a shocker, if so.
I wouldn't recommend teaching in Bangkok, either, or anywhere in Thailand for that matter. |

Why so many people in Thailand, tell others not to come to Thailand? |

I spent nearly six months in Phuket, not teaching but other non-related employment. I've spent significant stretches in Bangkok as well, again not teaching. But if I had to choose a place to live I'd choose Phuket for one reason - I don't really enjoy living in large cities. I need more open space and fresher air. |

Isn't it nasty, though. You'd have to be out of your mind to go and live and teach in a city like Bangkok, specifically on a TEFL teacher's salary. |
