Hiyas,

I have this thing with my job in Mexico called 'afore'. Its the same as what we call superannuation in Australia - retirement savings that the employer pays for.

Are there any jobs that pay this kind of thing in Spain? I'm asking because I can possibly transfer my afore into one that is owned by a Spanish bank, and then (again, possibly) get my new employer in Spain to pay into it, so that I can be fabulously wealthy in my old age. But, if there's no afore with good EFL jobs, then I'm not going to bother with all of the mountains of paperwork and 50 million phone calls that this process will require.

Thanks!
Lozwich.

Laughing

(Why would we laugh? Unless it's the idea of an ELT being fabulously wealthy in her old age... Unfortunately, I have no useful information to impart to this thread, so no change there then, but I'm sure somebody must know. Do you know whether you're moving to Spain for the long haul? It may not be worth the hassle, even if possible, if you're not.)

And 50 million phone calls seems rather a lot, even trying to get sense out of European bureaucrats...

Who ever really knows the answer to questions like that? If someone had sat me down at 18 and told me what my adulthood would be like, and where it would take me, I know I wouldn't have believed them! I do have plans to live happily ever after, but who knows where that might happen?

And maybe I exaggerated slightly about the 50 million phone calls, maybe it'd only be 375,000. Razz

Whether its worth the hassle or not, I don't know, but they're my pesos dagnabbit, and if I can, I want to keep them! Very Happy

Not I! It's a good answer, though. I take it that you're just following your feet, right?

You're just being greedy. Wink Have you checked the government websites? Or spoken to an accountant or something?

In other words, no, no I haven't, but I can possibly change my afore to a bank that is owned by BBVA, so in theory, it should transfer across. Right??
