Hello!

I have been in Thailand as a tourist for the last two months, and have been invited to do an interview at Mahidol. (Otherwise, I need to book a flight out of here for the end of the month and get on with other business...difficult to know what to do with almost no real information at the moment...stress!)

Does anyone work there now, and have any updated information about working in the International Programs in Salaya i.e the overtime options, etc, for an ESL instructor, if any.

Working atmosphere is also very important to me, as well as the physical environment-air quality- in Salaya. I understand it is in the burbs.

Thanks so much for any input!

serious

I worked at Mahidol in Salaya. It's indeed out in the burbs of BKK but air's clean and the uni is definitely one fo the better ones in Thailand. Can't comment further as I have been out of the country for quite a while now, so my info is a bit outdated...

It's a pretty good ride from Bangkok (one hour + on the bus from Siam Square, downtown Bangkok), but the bus leaves from the road just outside the campus, and it's cheap (about 25 baht, or less than $1). The air quality is fine in Salaya. Don't know how much there is to do around there, especially if you don't have a car or motorbike. There is a decent cafeteria and some restaurants on campus, along with convenience marts and at least one good coffee shop. There is transportation on campus, and it's flat, so it's easy to ride a bike there.

Pretty good uni, as the previous poster mentioned. The Salaya campus is the international school, of course.
