Goodness, is there anything sanitary to rent for 2500/month in Qatar?

You can rent a decent car for that price...that's about it.

Last year, whilst new large-framed instructors were being accommodated
in small bedrooms with tiny beds in Student Accommodation blocks,
the QAC's Administration was using 2 smart,
3-bedroomed townhouses as storage facilities
for its large stash of removed used furniture and a/cs - so that it could be
re-sold to the fortunate amongst the new arrivals moving into
the re-unfurnished accommodation.
Great time and resource management -not!! Rolling Eyes

In spite of the imminent massive expansion of Doha International Airport,
with its new terminals due to open on 12th December 2012,
and Qatar Airways' tremendous growth and investment for the future,
student numbers are down at the Qatar Aeronautical College this year.

If the QAC administration has informed the senior management of the College
that fewer students have enrolled, it is possible that
the senior management will have deduced by now that fewer teachers
will be required. In that case, there is even less likelihood that
the woeful accommodation situation will be addressed this year
to the benefit of the teaching staff.

You have to be QACers to work there!

When I was there QACkers were housed in a brand-new, but vile, apartment block in the centre of what is euphemistically known as a "Low Income Neighbourhood". That was in 2004 and things MAY have changed.

Yuk. Give me Saudi any day !

Some improvement on the housing home-front. Worried about Purdue U's reaction to the housing crisis steps have been taking to resolve it. People formerly housed in the portacabins are now temporarily in an apartment hotel. But it takes a lot of to-ing and fro-ing to the housing office. I turned a job down here years ago because of this problem but still have buddies who have hung in.

The salary has just gone up 15,500 for BA and 17,000 for MA which puts it on par with QU and QCC, However, some teachers are still living in the barracks in student M, other teachers are being housed in a hotel and have to pay for meals. Theyve been promised a new building somewhere in the city center but so far no keys.

They are linking up with Purdue U so this will make things get better!

Student numbers down so probably no hiring although they did let a few unqualified people go. No teaching qualifications. So probably no jobs for the foreseeable future.

New managers and heads doing a great job. Very popular with the staff and great people skills! Now if only some other organizations could put people with good people skills in positions of authority. It should be a prerequisite for promotion. If you can't communicate, you can't get a promo!

Anybody currently working at QAC care to comment on the place these days? Please PM me if you would care to share your experiences. I'm looking for a new job and a new adventure.

Heard they will be moving to old Terminal 1 as new airport now operative. Job sit dire as do not reply to applicants. Heard they need teachers but cannot hire.
