Hello, I just finished my final teaching contract so can set up on my own again. I'm a writer, and like Delhi. Hope you have ideas. I didn't see an India forum any more, so hope this makes it to somebody who can help.

I'm basing my estimates on 10,000 rupee/month rent For example, in Chiang Mai for rentals the landlord wants first and last month's rent; what else would a Delhi landlord expect?

I'm not connected to any company; I'm an independent person, a writer; I need to be near a metro so I can get into KG marg to the libraries. High rents in South Delhi made me consider Noida and even Dwarka. (Gurgaon?) Advice?

Hopefully my Indian friend will help me, but I think I'd better know all I can, just in case. I've stayed before in Delhi for months at a time but never set up in an apt.

Family noise really stops me from working, so am getting a place on my own. Any advice on avoiding noisy neighbors by the way?

In Chiang Mai this was normal, to have a flat of one's own (a bed-sit, but it was private). Wish I could find something so easily like that in Delhi. Any ideas?
