Has anyone lived or worked in Kostroma? I want to work in a historic town like in the Golden Ring; pleasantly surprised that this town of about 300,000 has several language schools. |

Kostrome is ok. I've been there 3 or 4 times.
Nice enough town, pretty quiet, not much going on. Travel connections to/from aren't great. Not much in the way of services or city transportation. No industry or money really. Meh.
I was always there in the winter. Ice fishing seemed to be a big draw. Six or seven months of ice fishing for fun makes for a long Russian winter.....
If I were heading off to that neck of the woods I'd head-over-heels choose Yaroslavl instead. |

Thanks for the answer! I think Kostroma may be better for me just because it's smaller, but I would like to hear what people think is so great about Yaroslavl. (And I will check other threads on this forum...)
