I have 10 months experience teaching in Georgia and a recently completed CELTA. In addition I have an undergraduate degree in Sociology from LSE. I am a 27 year old male.

At the moment I am looking at job opportunities in South Korea and Thailand, but like most who look at the Middle East I am tempted by the salaries offered.

During my CELTA I was told by a recruiter that often what the ads state in terms of requirements isn't indicative of what they actually require. Is this true? Can I get a job in the Middle East with my qualifications? Are certain countries easier than others for me to get into?

Thanks

Smile

Stick to your idea of SK or Thailand. Any employer in the Middle East who would hire you with your near complete lack of experience and credentials is almost certainly not someone that you would want to work for. Cool

Get experience teaching Academic English to adults for 3 or 4 years... and even better, add an MA to your CV, and you will be ready for a Middle East job with the reputed higher pay.

Those that pay well and have good conditions can demand a good CV from their teachers.

Did your recruiter have any bridges in Brooklyn or swampland in Florida s/he was flogging as well?

Agree with VS - anyone who would take you on is an employer who would exploit you and not provide the legal documentation required in the GCC.
