I'm planning out my applications to various companies and I'd like a little input. About how long does it take to hear from the big companies after submitting an application? A month? A few weeks? And do any of the big eikaiwa companies send out those "thank you but..." emails?
I'd rather submit applications one at a time and wait it out, but I have no idea when the "move on to the next" point would be. |

It's foolish to send out one application and wait for a reply...in any profession. For teaching in Japan, send as many as you can. |

Hire a blimp
Print out a 6-7 figure sum of your applications
Throw them out over the main cities
?????
Land a job or land in prison, either or you'll still be in japan =)
on a serious note, i applied for maybe 20 different companies at first, a few got back to me saying there were no positions but most of the time you get no reply
Check out the FAQ number 1 i think ti is and apply for as many jobs as possible |

The contract on my flat here expires in January and another 6 months would take it to June, which is sort of around the hiring season? I'm thinking that if I wait until the summer then any contract will subsequently expire around that period, so less of a worry trying to find work in the off season. Given all this, how far in advance should I be starting to get those applications in? I'd be applying to big chain eikaiwas as I'd like to keep things simple to start and not have to worry about key money etc. |

Hiring for eikaiwa positions started a month or so ago for an April start.
January is a great time for your lease to expire.
The information you want is in the FAQ stiskies. |

Eikaiwas start their official term in April, just like most every job. Peak hiring takes place in February or March. June is way past the prime time (but some jobs will still be available). Eikaiwas in general hire year round, but not every one is always looking. |
