Hey, I just got to Japan. What's new and fresh in J-pop right now? I don't want to seem square by listening to Ayumi Hamasaki like I did 5 years ago Smile

Agreed with the "disturbingly" description. Along the same lines is the group Arashi. <shudder>

Just turn on the TV at night to see a music program and you'll learn who is popular. The show hosted by Tamori (the guy who looks like a greasy-haired yakuza and never removes his Rayban sunglasses) is on every week.

It's pretty much crap like AKB48 with some good acts bubbling under the surface if you look hard enough.

Sort of like back home, really.

K-pop got big. To the point that Kara breaking up was as big as news as the Tohouku Earthquake.
