Sorry for raking over the coals, but I also had a run-in with Mr T. Unlike the other victims on this thread, I sniffed him out as a loser by the way he attempted to deal with me, and duly set up a filter to automatically delete further emails from the said individual. They now want people with PhDs, dozens of 'em, haha!

I used to work for al khaleej training in Tabuk and still know some teachers working out there.

Alkhaleej is still there, but now this Mr. T is running the show. He works for the university.

I hear that the uni doesn't have visa's for hiring teachers from western countries. That's probably why Mr T can't do anything until the Saudi admin fixes up.

At the end of the day, it's just how things are in Saudi.

Anyone still interested to go out there (Tabuk) could try getting hired by AlKhaleej, but I doubt the uni can hire westerners (without PhDs).

Tabuk, like many other places will end up with faculty composed of graduates of Lahore, Delhi and Cairo.

Mr. T sent me an email this week asking how things were going in the visa application process. This is surprising since he hadn't responded to numerous emails I sent him many months ago. Needless to say, I did not respond.
I strongly advise teachers to stay away from this outfit!

Like many other institutions in KSA, they will end up relying on teachers from India/Pakistan and from Western converts who are desperate to work in the Promised Land !

For the money and because jobs in academia are limited these days.

I would like some clarification regarding the employment processes mentioned in this thread. I applied and was offered a teaching position at U of T and got all the way to trying to get the air tickets (unsuccessfully) before realizing that there may not be a teaching position. My question is: In the previous posts where individuals write about the contract, is that the actual contract from the employer that was received, signed, and returned or was that the offer letter? I received only the offer letter and the visa letter (never a contract).

Perhaps you could get an Indian PhD, I hear they're very cheap these days.

Now that I have gone through the Visa process and finished, I cannot get the recruiters at the university to follow through. They refuse to issue a contract with details and state that I cannot have a contract until sometime after arrival - This is against US advice. No one should travel without having a contract in hand and having read a trustworthy translation. With no contract, these recruiters still insist that I spend a fortune more traveling to Washington DC to insist that the Embassy there arrange for my travel to KSA. I have already been told that the Embassy there does not arrange travel for US citizens. I have informed them of this situation and feel that they are treating me like I am stupid. I have also informed them that, "no contract means I will not continue pursuing the job" and they continue to send documents that are meaningless. With no guarantee that anything in the offer letter will be upheld, including being met at the arrival airport, I feel it is not safe to travel for the hopeful job. I would recommend against teachers spending their time and money with this employer.
