Hi all
Only been here six weeks and Eid's coming up. I've got four days off from work in Cairo and am very green as to where and what to do.
I was in Alex last weekend. This time I'd quite like a fairly cheap (backpacky/hostel) beach resort with a bit more local interest than just lounging by the water. Any ideas, please? I'd be bussing it, as I don't drive.
Thanks all.

Sharm and Hurghada both have extremely reasonable hotel packages right now. You can take a bus to either location from Cairo. Have a local call and arrange it for you through one of the Egyptian tour companies.
This Eid can be quite shocking if one doesn't know what to expect and, even then, it can be ... a bit challenging. Unless you're up for it, you would do well to find a "touristy" vacation spot. |

Thanks Colleen
Yes, I've decided to go to Hurghada - and I'll be recognisable as the one sleeping on the beach if I don't get a room booked!
Happy hols!
