Hello All

Has anyone reading this had any experience doing voice work in China? During my time in Korea, I recorded several tests, GPS English for a company making navigation systems, and some storybooks.

I was wondering what the demand in China might be?

Thanks

There is quite a bit of demand for it in China, but it can be a hard market to get into. Since you've got a portfolio of work, it could be easier for you.

In Beijing you can get voice work that starts at RMB 600/hour. The pros are earning four to five times that.

I've done some here. I've done textbook recordings, commercials and some random stuff like store and elevator announcements.

As El Macho said though, it is a difficult market to get into. You need to have a connection.

I'm doing some now, but I wasn't looking, they sought me out. I wouldn't know where to look to find any. Too bad, pays pretty good.

I have a Chinese-Canadian friend who does this. From what I can tell, it is very lucrative. That said, being able to speak Chinese to find these jobs pays off. One of the few jobs where looks do not matter.
