I've noticed that Lebanon is almost nonexistent for ESL schools...despite the fact that AU Beirut is (was) one of the most prestigious universities in the ME.

does anyone know if Lebanon does any recruiting for ESL teachers? I've come across only one or two Lebanese schools that were looking for ESL teachers. Question Question Question

Effective demand is almost zero.

I would suspect that there are many Lebanese nationals (or those who hold two passports) with near native or native speaking and with the requisite credentials to fill any posts without the employer or employee having to worry about nasty things like visas or even benefits (if family is nearby)

There are long, well established Lebanese communities in North America - the vast majority of which speak English with native fluency. Whether any are interested in teaching English in Lebanon? I don't know but would expect some might be.

These communities are very welcoming to new immigrants with younger children who would have both passports eventually. I know I went to university with at least half a dozen who travelled back to Lebanon on a regular basis (and that wasn't yesterday or even the day before!)
