Sash, the bottom line is that this confirms that at least a very slim majority of US voters aren't crazed anti-progresss-women-minorities-education Big Bird killers Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Now, kindly refrain from raining on our little parades...we've waited long enough to have them, after all- and as you point out, they were VERY expensive!

...if I were Big Bird, I'd feel very anxious that the slim majority was exceedingly slim...

I'll join the celebrations when Obama removes all the old statuary from Washington and installs proper Socialist Realist monumental propaganda...

There are some pretty ancient Supreme Court justices currently serving.
President Obama may get to nominate at least one replacement over the next 4 years.

That will be a 'gift that keeps on giving' well after his second term ends.

cheezsteakwit, that falls very neatly into Sasha's desire to see 'old statuary' removed;-)

So, Sash, c'mon and join the party Laughing

There's only one Party of historical importance, and I've already joined. It was inevitable.

Happy Glorious October Revolution Day to one and all!

And for those of you who mistakenly thought that racism was in any way a factor, here's how some ladies and gentlemen in the deep south responded to Obama's win:

"A disturbance broke out on the University of Mississippi's campus early Wednesday, after students angry at the reelection of president Barack Obama took to the streets to vent their displeasure.
WMCTV reports that students interacting on social media, which resulted in 300-400 young people participating in the disturbance.
Pictures posted on twitter showed people burning Obama campaign signs. The Clarion Ledger reports that students were heard shouting racial epithets about Obama and African Americans in general.
Police were called to the scene and the crowd broke up around 12:30 a.m.
Ironically, as reported by Buzzfeed, prior to Tuesday night conservative bloggers had warned of plots by black youth to riot if Obama lost the election, a charge that police dismissed."

Why weren't they in class? Because they have NO class.

Very Happy

Regards,
John

Dear spiral,

Not me - I'm rooting for Ryan Very Happy .

Romney's history - I think he's out of politics for good. Even the Republicans were, at best, very lukewarm about his candidacy.

Regards,
John

Dear johnslat:

Actually, I agree with you.
The 2016 candidate will certainly be from the 'new generation,'
whether it's Ryan or Chris Christie or Jindal or whomever...

But for now we've got a hard-earned year or so of not thinking about
elections, hurrah!

Best,
spiral

Doesn't anyone else like the happy coincidence that Obama was elected on the 95th anniversary of Great October Revolution?

Given the impact an American President has on world politics, economies etc. I am breathing a huge sigh of relief - as is everyone I know. The alternative would've been a giant step back into the past.

It's always sobering to see how one's concept of 'inalienable rights' can be so easily undermined or overturned (in any country, I mean) by a new administration. Congratulations - and thanks - to all the American voters who made yesterday's result happen!
