Someone told me about an extraordinary character who, while teaching english in Tokyo, saved money by living with his girlfriend in a van. They bathed at local hot-baths and I imagine they ate at local restaurants too.
Does Muscat or other costal cities have ports which dock private vessels for long periods of time?
How amazingly restful would a sleep on the sea be for an English teacher?

Muscat has a few marinas where people can dock private vessels. I've no idea about the costs, though.
I'm not sure about the other port cities of Sohar, Sur, and Salalah... I'm pretty sure Sohar's port is only for freight and oil tankers. |

You would need to get used to cramped quarters AND the rocking
motion of the boat... |
