I don't have any experience with universities at all, except I taught at a University Demonstration Mathayam School. However in general schools in Thailand are pretty similar in that you take your chances when you arrive. The school and the students either like you or they don't. If they don't you get dumped. With that in mind you have to endeavour to make the students not complain, at least not too much. Schools in SE Asia are not going to be like schools in the West. You'll have to learn not to get fired.
For that reason always bring sufficient cash to hunker down untill another job comes (thier's quite a few that open up after semesters are over). Or have enough cash to leave Thailand for other teacher feeding grounds or to go back home. |
