Are there any reputable online journals that can be freely accessed? Without annual subscriptions or having to register? I'm simply interested in reading TESOL/TEFL and second language acquisition related articles in my free time. |

I've taken the obvious first step on my own already. I hope that a bit of help filtering through the thousands of results to find something reputable, interesting, free, that doesn't require me to click on endless links to get nowhere, and showing more than short abstracts isn't too much to ask. |

Go for it. Without knowing a specific interest that you may have in such an enormous field, there is nothing more anyone can really do to help you. Pick an area...reading, writing, speaking, listening, training, presenting, linguistics, applied linguistics, e-learning, CALL, CLIL, task-based learning, vocabulary, etc. |

After presenting a paper a tIATEFL Conference this year, I am now plagued with requests from journals unkown to submit papers for publication. For sure if I do submit something, there will be conditions. For example I take out a subscription at some inflated price.

Glenski,
Anyways, "ha ha ha."
Now seriously, come on! Without trolling around google, in your experience do you know of any reputable online journals that can be freely accessed?
Personally, for my own work I'd be most interested in "any reputable online journals [articles] that can be freely accessed" in the sub-fields of TEFL speaking, listening, and writing. Sorry if these categories are too broad, but I'll use these as my starting point.
Thanks. No, really. Thanks. |

Hi there Javelin of Radiance (my I call you Javelin or JoR? )
I found this one quite useful but I dont know if it is prestigeous.
http://www.tesl-ej.org/wordpress/
It seems to ba totally free and I have used some article before for wirting a paper.
Also, I recommend Google Scholar because sometimes you have to pay for the articles but sometimes you can get them free. Also, if you like a writer on TEFL then put their name in a search engine because often they have websites with their papers online for free. For exampel:
Stephen Krahsne
http://www.sdkrashen.com/
Micheal Swan
http://mikeswan.co.uk/
Dave and Jane Willis
http://www.willis-elt.co.uk/aboutus.html
And many many many more... |

Here are another two free online journals that I mentioned in another posting about reading resources recently:
The Reading Matrix Journal
Reading in a Foreign Language
The Teaching English site, from the BBC / British Council, has a wealth of articles and resources for classroom teaching.
Perhaps you already know that you can get discounted access to a range of journals as a member of TESOL or IATEFL - and there are also useful discussion forums etc and other resources on their sites, so that could also be an option. You could also google for the online journals of professional associations, such as JATL from Japan, which offer full or restricted access to articles.
