I thought the system might work in a somewhat parallel fashion here. |
Met too. WRONG!!!!!

I'd like to think about how to minimize costs on this and make the best of seeing how things work here. |
You can't minimize costs now, call it "investing".
Get your Z visa and then you can move on to a new school. |

tideout: from your other posts, it appears you're teaching in thailand.
if so, you can get your z-visa there in bangkok or chiang mai. use
your time now to get a contract with the chinese school and be sure
the visa invitation letter states to apply in thailand. otherwise, if
you're in one of the many provinces that don't allow visa runs to hong
kong, you may need to return to your home country.
you've got enough time to get the paperwork in order, and then apply
for the z-visa when you return to thailand.....but check embassy hours
for spring festival closing.
this assumes you're teaching legally in thailand and have the proper
non-immigrant visa. |

Thanks guys. The posts have been very helpful. A minor apology is probably in order as I did ask something of the impossible by not being terribly specific. I will undoubtedly drop a message to one or two of you re: some specifics but due to the situation I'm trying to keep it discreet.
The latest is that other teachers who have been working here for years have reassured me that they have always been paid w/o issue and that everything runs w/o major visa/legal/financial problems for them. All of them describe the paperwork as a "process" but things seem to have been made correct in time. No doubt they have a variety of opinions on the recruitment side of this and many here reflect the same feelings. It's far from perfect but I've googled the recruiter a zillion ways and not found anything despite them having been in the business for years.
The best option at the moment is to probably give this a ride for a bit until I see something more ominous - nothing is guaranteed but with more info I'm seeing this as less risky than a day ago.....
Any changes....believe me, I'll probably be back!!!
Many thanks amigos! |
