good news everyone!!!! (at least those in hainan)
my FAO made a few calls today......to the RP office in haikou,
and to our local PSB registry office right here in Mayberry, PRC.
both say it is NOT required to transfer the RP from an old passport
to a new passport. it's enough to carry both passports until the
new RP is pasted into the new passport.
additionally, Barney Fife says i do not need to re-register with the
police each time i exit/enter china, so long as my current registration
is still valid, and i am returning to the same address. |

According to the PSB you have 10 days after getting your new passport to come in and apply for the transfer or you face a fine.. It also costs about $200 for the transfer |
where are you located?
the fee was $200 or 200 RMB?
|
Yea sorry I meant RMB.
I thought it would be OK to carry both around but when my FAO called the Beijing PSB they were very strict that I needed to be there within the 10 days...
Kind of a pain in the ass since my RP was up for renewal in 3 months... but they will only renew them with 1 month left go on it....
Anyway what i think this topic has shown is like every thing in china it depends on where you are, who you are, if its a full moon or otherwise.
TIC as always. |

Is there really a Mayberry in PRC or is that an Andy Griffith joke? You could read your post two different ways. I now have images running through my head of Don Knotts and Jim Nabors in China |

No Mayberry RFD in the PRC; but there is a Mayberry LSD in the minds and hearts of those who dance to the beat at Mix or Vic's.. |
