If Scotland votes itself out of the UK, what will the implications be for places like the Falklands, if any? |

I don't think it would have any implication, they already have their own referendum planned for March. |

Probably right. Yet, I still wonder if there'll be a new name for the UK if Scotland leaves. The United Kingdom of England , Wales and Northern Ireland, perhaps? The term 'British' looks set for even more ambiguity than it already has accreted... |

Falklands. This is a British territory named after Anthony Cary, 5th Viscount of Falkland. Why would you want to use a faux Spanish name, a corruption of the French Malouines (people from St Malo) for a British territory? |

If we're going to rename the UK, how about the "United Kingdom of Acceptable Britain and Northern Ireland"?
As for the Falklands, like previously mentioned, the Argentine claim is utterly absurd and there's no reason to use the Argentine name in English. I think anywhere outside of MERCOSUR, I wouldn't even use it in Spanish.

No, I mean the rest can't claim to be "great" without Caledonia.

Why not rename the islands 'Last Remaining Outposts of Former United Kingdom'? |

Because even if you do get Canada to take the Turks and Caicos off your hands then you might confuse them with Gibraltar, Bermuda, St. Helena and dependencies, Pitcairn, British Virgin Islands, and probably several others. Unless you plan to stick Scotland with the lot of them in the event of a Scotch separation.

I'll take the Turks and Caicos, if you guys don't want 'em. They're pretty nice, overall |
