Worked for them 2 yrs (2009-2011).
If you get to teach on new campus its 25min aways by school bus. If your class starts 2pm, the bus will be around 1pm. Old campus is 20-30min from downtown (depends of horrible ZZ traffic). Subway line 1 should open this year however it gets nowhere near the campus. ZZ trafiic should improve A LOT though...
They also send some teachers to Songshan/Shaolin campus. If you get this schedule you will have to get up 6am, and take minivan to get there for 8am. The good news is your schedule will be more than sweet. 1st term I worked only Mondays (4x90min) with getting there and back, plus 1 English corner on Tuesday and that was it. Good times, although money sucked.
All in all its not a bad place, good bunch of ppl in ZZ. Be prepared for some typical chinese BS and you'll be fine.
good luck |

thanks. i was told that i would have to travel back and forth between Songshan and one other campus. I am under the impression that they are planning on rotating the teachers through some schedule, so unfortunately will not get the Monday-Tuesday schedule you did. That does sound like a fantastic schedule though!
I am not taking them up on the housing offer, going to find something off campus. Have any close and nice area recommendations? |
