Hello everyone and thanks for reading
I have been looking at moving closer to Europe (currently in SE Asia) and Kazakhstan appeals for a number of reasons. But is it family-friendly? The school I have looked at is in Almaty and from what I've read so far, it looks great. However, I have 2 children (one primary, one secondary aged) and I have to be sure the next move is also good for them. Would you recommend Almaty as somewhere I could safely take my kids?
Also, I had heard that there are sometimes difficulties with pay - the job is advertised in US$ so does this mean I would be paid in US$ or local currency?
I would also be interested in finding out more about the international schools in Almaty if anyone knows anything about them. Both from a teaching point of you, and as a place to educate my children:)
Thanks for anything you can tell me

I can't think of any reason why you couldn't bring your kids here, Almaty has all the advantages of a city of 1.5 million people, including fairly great nature. Probably the main negative for your kids here would be if they were in the state school system where usually kids do a 6 day week, with Saturday as a school day.

I've been here 4 months and haven't had any problems with pay. It's always paid in local currency. I think they just advertise it in US dollars for comparison reasons, as the Tenge isn't widely known or exchangeable outside the country.
