Hi guys,
I've read this forum for some time now and I thank you for providing all the info you have. The one thing that remains a huge obstacle for me is to find employment that will sponsor my visa.
I've started applying to places in Hong Kong and I have applied to the NET for next year but I'm not holding my breath as I only have a CELTA and less than a year of post-certificate experience.
Now, my question is whether anyone on this forum has any experience with employers that are willing to sponsor visas.
I'm also considering going over on a working holiday visa and then finding an employer to sponsor me after I've gotten a year of experience there.
Any helpful suggestions? |

I have a BA in an unrelated field. I know my options are basically private schools and language mills :/
I know a lot of you suggest working elsewhere for a few years and then continuing to HK or wait to do a teacher qualification. However, these two things are not really options for me. |

Plenty of private centres/ mills are willing to sponsor people for employment visas, but of course the more reputable ones will be looking for people who already have qualifications and experience.
With the rest, your chances improve if you are obviously caucasian, and increase further if you are photogenic enough to appear on the centre's advertisements.
Still, if you're willing to live at the bottom of the pond until you can get your qualifications done, you should be able to get a legal job. Lots of places advertise on www.classifiedpost.com . |
