Does anybody know of any short-term teaching positions in Mexico? I'm a qualified teacher who is hoping to travel to Mexico in the next month. I hope the remain in the country for about 2 months.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2 months is really short...you would be best off looking at a summer camp position. You also most certainly wouldn't have time to process a work visa for such a short stay.

in March? Easter break falls in late March/early April this year, and that's two weeks off. Really not a good time to look for a short term position.

It depends on where in Mexico you want to live. In a larger city, you can pick up some private students within days of arrival, either by placing an ad on Craigs list, or by working for a business institute. You probably wont earn enough to live on since you wont really be there long enough to build up a good base of students, unless you are really frugal.

I think it's a lousy idea to pick up some private students and then after a couple of months, telling them you're leaving Mexico.

It is, unless you are upfront with them and tell them you will only be around for a couple of months. I suppose it is too much to assume everyone is ethical, so didnt think to mention that.

What's the point of doing this at all? Why not just come for a holiday, and check out places you might like to settle in for a longer stay, plus make some contacts for future work- now, more necessary than ever, given the fact that you must apply for a work visa outside the country before entering to work.
