Its an odd question I know...

Having taught and traveled I haven't always maintained the best lifestyle...now that I'm back in London i've been on a strict cutting diet and have been boxing and doing weights to regain my health and get rid of my gut...

Now obviously I have to go somewhere to teach...any recommendations on somewhere that I can work and not be surrounded by temptations...somewhere boring might actually be a good thing...and where food is good value and local delicacies are low calorie...

Also it would be great if I have access to sports facilities (ideally boxing although kickboxing would do)...Middle East sounds perfect in some ways but I'm not qualified enough...

I have a CELTA, one years experience and a degree...

I just want a quiet year where I can teach, stay in shape and save some money...

Thanks...

For the ME, you need a first degree.

You can probably lose weight just by slogging through this thread, "Countries that offer the highest salaries - top 3?"

^

Yeah I've got a 2:2 in Sociology but its from LSE...don't know if that benefits me in any way...

My general presumption about the Middle East from reading here is that legitimate employers wouldn't hire me...I don't have the qualifications nor the experience...I presume I have that correct?...

I'm thinking maybe a village in South Korea might be an alternate plan...but I'm open to other recommendations...

I'm going to give it a try in the Kingdom. I get a free gym membership where I will be living and figure that there won't be much to do except work out.

South Korea! I lost some pounds while there. Korean food is healthy and delicious. I took up running (also walking up the numerous escalators at the metro stations). Some of my coworkers signed up at a local gym and kept fit that way.

From what I hear, western Europe may suit you, I often hear stories of how English teachers can barely afford to eat....

If you're a vegetarian Russia is a very good place to lose weight!

Hehe, nice one Laughing

I'd say Saudi, especially as there's no beer - a sure fire weight-gainer. It's also very hot so a jog is a built-in sauna too. I've lost 4kg over the last 3 years, am down to my proper weight and have saved packet.

Actually surviving here, with all the other obstacles to overcome, is a different matter entirely.

Any chance for newbies there?...seems perfect for an introvert year...

Saudi Arabia? Not likely for a newbie with a CELTA, one year of experience, and a BA. Those responding need to consider your qualifications and not just theirs. Check out the link I provided in my previous post for countries that better match your quals. But frankly, you can find ways to lose weight regardless of where you work.

Introvert year? Do you mean staying indoors and not socialising? If so, yes it's a good option. Plenty of people do just that, although difficult if you have to share accommodation.

Not sure about that Nomad Soul, Edex and McGill seem to take on anyone who breathes and no doubt there are more.

Yeah, but working in the Kingdom for a sketchy outfit like EdEx, ICEAT, etc., can also have the opposite effect: overeating! Razz

Well i'm cool with socialising but the prospect of that isn't a priority...I just want a year where I can train and get back in shape...

At present i'm on quite a strict diet, boxing 5 days a week and doing weights 3 times a week...

I'd just like somewhere where I can teach and then train intensely for a year without temptations...

I presume I can get access to boxing equipment there...any chances of training?...like 3 private classes a week?...
