Give me some information on how is Egypt compared to China on visa things. What is the process like? How many steps? What is the expense like?

The visa process in China CAN BE obstructive. And it seems to change every 4 hours.

a. Health exam at government clinic
b. Application of visa notice
c. Foreign experts certificate
d. letter of invitation from Foreign Affairs Office
e. All this must be approved (in some way that I don't understand) by the Public Security Bureau. Then......
f. Trip to Hong Kong (Or Macau-- but not all police know that there is a Bureau of Consular Affairs in Macau. Long story)
g. Second trip to PSB to have the visa obtained in Hong Kong into a residence permit plus payment of a second fee.

And from province to province. (Sometimes you need a letter of recommendation. Sometimes not. Sometimes you can change a tourist visa to a Z visa to a residence permit. Sometimes not.)
