Anybody out there available to tell me about the ESL teaching market in Tete area of Mozambique? My wife and I are looking to perhaps move there in the coming months for her work (Vale Mining Company). I am currently living and teaching in Brazil and have been for the past 3 years. I have been working as a private teacher pretty much since I arrived here.

Any tips or info regarding Tete or Mozambique are welcome.

Thanks!

Very low salary. Only exception would be in one the international schools but i assume these are in Maputo.

Look at US$300 or 400 a month - if that.

thanks for your reply.

Do you have experience teaching privately in Tete? My ideal student would be someone working for the mining company itself. I am not looking to teach the general public. I had assumed as with Brazil, teaching at a language school there doesn't pay much

Mrkermit:

There are expat forums for Mozambique that might give you leads on teaching opportunities. Try an Internet search with expat forum tete mozambique.

That's not surprising. Looks like you'll just have to figure out if there's a niche for private English lessons once you land in country.
