Anybody out there available to tell me about the ESL teaching market in Tete area of Mozambique? My wife and I are looking to perhaps move there in the coming months for her work (Vale Mining Company). I am currently living and teaching in Brazil and have been for the past 3 years. I have been working as a private teacher pretty much since I arrived here.
Any tips or info regarding Tete or Mozambique are welcome.
Thanks! |

Very low salary. Only exception would be in one the international schools but i assume these are in Maputo.
Look at US$300 or 400 a month - if that. |

thanks for your reply.
Do you have experience teaching privately in Tete? My ideal student would be someone working for the mining company itself. I am not looking to teach the general public. I had assumed as with Brazil, teaching at a language school there doesn't pay much |

Mrkermit:
There are expat forums for Mozambique that might give you leads on teaching opportunities. Try an Internet search with expat forum tete mozambique. |

That's not surprising. Looks like you'll just have to figure out if there's a niche for private English lessons once you land in country. |
