scot, how do you bring this machine to the Magic Kingdom?
If the Saudi custom officer asks you about the machine in the airport, what do you say to him? Laughing

I have heard that in the Magic Kingdom if caught brewing alcohol in your house, the punishment is up to 550 lashes (which could kill you! Laughing

) in the Chop-Chop square, plus deportation in the first available flight to Glasgow!

How do you suppose the numerous bootleggers in KSA got their hands on their stills ? You think they just go down the Souk or the Hardware Store and pick one up ?

I recall seeing a "home-made" one - VERY impressive, with copper tubing and all the bells and whistles - at a Saudi's home.

Don't know, though, whether he made it or had it made there.

Some people just replace one addiction with another. I do Daves ESL Cafe. Some go in for adultery. I have never seen the attraction myself !

It's easy enough to make decent beer or wine with not much more than a 5 gallon water container, some yeast, sugar and a plastic tube.

Yes, of course, Rauch from Austria was the preferred. I also used raisins, currents, rice, and other fruit juices. At one time I had a few hundred liters accumulated, and one bedroom with gro-lamps dedicated to horticultural pursuits.

Beer makers used "near beer" as a base and turned out a good product.

At one of the compounds in Jeddah there was an industrial sized siddiqie operation that turned out hundreds of liters of high quality product on a weekly basis. Millions of dollars were made, murder occurred in turf battles over distribution with competitors. This was in the 1980s.

Where I work, several teachers were immediately deported when it was discovered they were making hooch in their university-provided accommodations.
