Every now and then I run into an ad for ESL teachers like this one from Booz Allen. I am guessing even if they don't state males only, that is what they mean, right?

http://careers.tesol.org/jobs/#/detail/5495934/2,false

Just don't want to waste my time.

Well, twistedtongue, I guess because the Booz Allen ad will be published in USA or Europe, they have to obey the anti-discrimination law by not stating the gender of the applicant.
Also, as far as I know, the Magic Kingdom do not have military women personnel, and a women teacher cannot teach a male students unless it is through closed TV circuit!

There are US ads that state "according to SA policy only male candidates will be considered." But most likely there is no chance for me Wink

That just means age, citizenship, etc. That wouldn't have to do with SA's male only policy.

Some recruiters solely deal with male applicants/men-only jobs; they wouldn't even think to indicate gender in their ad.

You have to learn to read between the lines by picking up on cues such as "must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information..." Also, if you see something like, "must possess a driver's license." It's quite obvious the job is for males. Generally, women are limited to university teaching jobs, and even those job postings aren't always so clear. A check of the uni's website, wikipedia, or the Higher Ed Ministry's site should indicate if there's a women's campus. But if in doubt, contact the recruiter before submitting your CV so that you don't waste your time.

But again, you're seeing slim pickin's now because it's nearly the end of the year's big recruiting/hiring season for university (direct hire) positions.

The problem in the US is that there are women who will insist that they be interviewed... and then if they're not offered the job, they will file a discrimination suit. AMIDEAST had problems with this for a few years with a UAE military contract. And they will lose this kind of case - even though these Gulf governments will often require male teachers. Eventually they got the UAE military to accept a few women teachers and it ended up working out well ... until the contract imploded... but that's another story, unrelated to the sex of the teachers.

The Airline did not hire female instructors but when recruiting in the US would interview females because they were worried about litigation by some lunatic feminist.
