|
|
Hi!
What are the best sites for job openings in the UAE?
Looking to teach ESL at the University or Secondary level, but would consider Primary school positions.
Thanks so much,
Ann |

For primary and secondary positions, check out Teachaway; they're a major recruiter in the UAE for licensed teachers.
For uni-level positions, try higheredjobs.com, chronicle.com, and unijobs.ae. TESOL Arabia's job fair would be at the top of list---it's held in March each year and draws employers from throughout the Gulf region. Alternately, since some unis only post openings on their websites, do a wiki search on 'uae universities colleges' for a list of institutions. Be aware, the recruiting/hiring season for 2013-2014 is nearly over. |

Thank you. You said,

Do you think UAE is a place that is hiring on an ongoing basis - or is it only for September? |

The desirable employers start recruiting in late January and on into April/May. Right now they are trying to fill the few positions that have either not been filled or potential applicants have pulled out. This is typical for the GCC |

That's for the upcoming academic year of 2013-2014. So, nope, there is no ongoing hiring---the brunt of university recruiting/hiring is in March-June. Timing is everything. Those new teachers joining are about to start their 2 or 3-year contract in August or September. |

There may be a limited amount of hiring for the 2nd semester. To find out about these openings, you need to keep visiting the university websites' employment pages. They rarely advertise for the small number that they hire mid-year.
I'm only referring to university level here. We have few K-12 teachers on this section of the board as the vast majority of jobs in the Middle East are for teaching adults (university, oil, military) So most of us are very uninformed about this level and our teachers at that level drop in here irregularly.

Has anyone been recruited by footprints for an ADEC job? Any information about it? |

If you are interested in ADEC, go to TeachAway... they have a pretty good track record from their hires. BTW all of the ADEC jobs are a real crapshoot as to conditions. Some schools are good, some are tolerable, and some are a nightmare for the expat teacher. And I doubt that you have much control over where they put you... check out the Facebook page to see what the teachers are saying these days.
