I know some places ask you to write down your expected salary, but others don't.

What is the best way to negotiate in Egypt?

For example... if you are called for an interview and during the interview they tell you themselves how much they can offer you and you think it is too low.

Do just simply stand up and walk out?! lol. Or do you just take it as them trying to see if they can get away with it. How do you handle that here?

I am sort of new to this and would appreciate any tips.

In order to negotiate a salary, you have to think like an Egyptian.

Take offense to that really low offer.

Apologize, excuse yourself, then get up and walk out - unless you really want that particular job.

If they really want you, they won't let you out the door.

If they do let you out the door, so what? You're the foreigner and you hold the cards.

I was thinking that one could say something like, "oh, I'm sorry. I understood from (insert source) that the salary here was around (insert suitable amount) for native English speakers. What you have mentioned is way too low for me to accept. "

Then wait for them to change their tune OR leave and wait for them to call and offer something higher.

a school offered me 2500 for my services, I said great and got up and left. As it has been said, don't waste your time- its too precious!
