This is NOT meant as sarcasm, but an honest question. Has anyone ever gotten a job off the job board here? Am I allowed to ask where else one would look?

Thanks

There's TESOL.org's career site, higheredjobs.com, and chronicle.com. Plus, do an Internet search on tefl jobs---include the specific country or region to narrow down your search.

Here is an old post made into a sticky on the General Latin America board, but many of the links listed under "TEFL Sites" are still good, and there are several good job sites among them. There is a similar sticky on the General Europe board, but I haven't found it as useful

http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=4556

I do know of several members who have found employment through the jobs board here at Dave's. It is also easier to use than some of the other TEFL job sites because jobs for Korea and China are listed separately. You don't have to wade through dozens of Korea/China jobs for every position listed in the rest of the world, as you do on some sites.

I find the Chronicle and Highered sites useful mostly for the US.

Yes, I have been employed via an advertisement on this site. Also worth looking at: ESLbase and TEFL.com

It depends where you want to work and whether you are willing to pay an agent or not. In China you can contact the CFTU and ask them to send you the Listing of Direct Employers. Good luck.

Got two jobs from this site. One in Korea, one in China. Both were entry level at so so places, but were pretty much what I needed at the time. The top tier jobs usually aren't advertised, so just be realistic and cautious...and patient.

Hoo, there I am at the top of that Latin America post, from 11 years ago (!!). So much has changed since then...

Curious to know how many here are using TIE online or are members of ISS and Search Associates?
