And another very dangerous storm is expected to hit the same area Tuesday-Wednesday:

Greetings Mr. K and spiral78:

Yeah, it looks pretty bad in Leyte, Cebu and Samar, especially in Tacloban, where Haiyan made landfall. They are now estimating as many as 10,000 may have died.

Here in Manila, we were expecting strong winds and flooding, but only got light rainfall and a little breeze. In fact, if it weren't for the media coverage, we wouldn't have even known that a major typhoon had struck. Let's hope they get some relief down there asap.

Diyos maging sa iyo, mga kababayan. Embarassed

I heard on the local news here that the death toll was "modified" to 1800.

That is quite a difference. ( and a whole lot better )

Let's hope you're right.

Here's what they're saying today:

Quote:
The official toll ... rose to 1,883 on Tuesday. President Benigno Aquino III told CNN in a televised interview that the toll could be closer to 2,000 or 2,500, lower than an earlier estimate from two officials on the ground who said they feared as many as 10,000 might be dead.

The story is all over the local news. There is a modest Pinoy population here in C R, which is creating some interest. My daughter was born in Maasin, and I have passed through Tacloban many times. I hope there is relief soon.
