Hi all!

I have been looking into moving to Costa Rica, specifically Heredia, to continue my teaching career for a little while, and have found this forum very, very helpful!

I have scanned through the pages but couldn't find answers to these questions so I was wondering if anybody could help!

Firstly, how easy is it to actually enter the country with just a one-way ticket with the intention of staying to work? Obviously, many of you are there right now, but did you initially have to buy a return ticket or is entering the country relatively hassle free?

Secondly, I was wondering if people had any recommendations on where to stay when first arriving in the country. Preferably in the Heredia region.
I will be looking to find a settled residence asap, but are there any good temporary hostels or hotels anybody would recommend upon arrival?

Many, many thanks for reading and hopefully replying!

Paul

Your question about return tickets is hard to answer because sometimes the law is enforced and other times it is completely looked over.

A good place to stay near Heredia is http://www.ladehesainn.com/.

I have heard that people are having a lot more problems coming in with a one way ticket than in the past. I would say you have about a 50/50 chance of being hassled/turned away at the airport.

I'm also wondering about the one way ticket in. I would be flying in from Canada. Are there any other alternative solutions?

Buy a cheap ticket out. Doesn't have to be back home. Just to some onward destination.
