I am teaching on mainland China where a noisy Spring Festival is coming, and I am wondering whether there're nice and friendly places near seaside to visit. I'd spend a couple weeks and a thousand American dollars for a hotel, food, swimming pool and a tennis court. Is this possible and is it safe there?

Cambodia's two beach resort areas are Sihanoukville and Kep. Neither are considered to be top seaside spots in SE Asia though.

You might be able to find what you seek (nice hotel on the sea) there, but Cambodia is still a bit risky in terms of safety (accidents, crime, violence). But millions of tourists visit every year and it's come a long way in the last decade.

In the long run, the safety factor is probably comparable to China.

Anyway, there's plenty of info online:

It's a holiday in Cambodia.
It's tough kid but it's life.
It's holiday in Cambodia.
Don't forget to pack a wife.

It's a holiday in Cambodia.
Where people dress in black.
It's a holiday in Cambodia.
Where you'll kiss ass or crack.
