Interesting article on the BBC: Apostrophe now: Bad grammar and the people who hate it

I certainly don't hate people for making basic grammar mistakes, but it can be kind of irritating; for instance, I watched the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon (a football/soccer tournament) and at the end three people were interviewed: two football players and the manager. All three used "them" when they should have say "those". Hearing this kind of mistake can be kind of annoying.

Quote:
Twist Phelan, an American writer who went on 100 online dates in 100 days and later married someone she met online, says grammar is a vital "filter system". It shows care has been taken when sentences are grammatically correct. "If you're trying to date a woman, I don't expect flowery Jane Austen prose. But aren't you trying to put your best foot forward?"

Hehehehehehe. She's called Twist Phelan. That alone skewed her online results.

"Come on let's twist again,
Like we did last summer!
Yeaaah, let's twist again,
Like we did last year!

Do you remember when,
Things were really hummin',
Yeaaaah, let's twist again,
Twistin' time is here! "

Regards,
John

I once had a horse called Twist. He was male, though.

Tell me it's not so, please! Then it's not limited to only Americans, but the English too?

Sorry, but it is! It was a long time ago, but I'm sure the two footballers were English and the manager was Spanish.

In the UK it's quite common to hear things like:

Them boys
I don't know nothing
He done good
Should have went

etc.
