Hi there,

I have lived and taught in China and Korea, where I lived in big cities. I am now embarking on the moe program. In Shanghai it was very hot in the spring and summer, so I am familiar with working in hot conditions, but my question is really this: What should I bring with me? How much work clothing and how conservative is it? Can I wear trousers as a lady or are dresses/skirts better?

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thanks!

Ladies are asked to wear long skirts or dresses.

Wearing trousers for ladies looks "funny" to Malays, especially the muslims.

Hi PB, I applied for the same post ( i believe there were 120 vacancies)

Could you tell me how long the MOE process for you took? So far i have been waiting almost 6 weeks!!! Which seems an incredibly long process to look at my 2 page C.V .

Thanks and sorry to hi-jack the thread.

i got my official job offer at the beginning of December and didn't arrive here until the end of Jan. was waiting for the ministry to give final approval. maybe its just my experience but since i've been here things do seem to be a bit convoluted and slow when it comes to those kind of things.

I worked in Malaysia (Borneo) with Malayan teachers last year. The women were not allowed to wear trousers in school, however outside school they certainly did.

I always wore trousers when I was training (keeps the mosies off your legs)
