Does anyone know anything about this place? It's in Kayseri.

Thanks!

No but I would put money on it being dubious as are most Turkish universities especially out East where it is very conservative and medieval in world view. Best avoid turkey for a while, there is much civil unrest and the government are in the process of dismantling the country. Elections are due this year but positive change is unlikely. Sorry......

As far as I know, Abdullah Gul is the highest paying public university for an EFL teacher. With a BA + CELTA and 2 years experience, you can expect to earn around 5000 TL per month.

I have 2 friends working there right now, and I'm about to apply there as soon as I finish typing this response.

They told me that it's a new program (the English program), so it's going through some growing pains. However, they like the place quite a lot and the director is a smart man and has good vision.

And no, I'm not some secret promoter. This is just what I've heard. I came to this forum just to see what others are saying about it.

Hello Orhan,

I had a Skype interview a couple of weeks ago. The guy who interviewed me is nice and I think it went well. Here are some of the types of questions he asked me:

- Questions regarding details of my previous jobs
i.e. What levels I taught, what subjects I taught, what was the curriculum like, how were the students

-Questions about which English skills I feel most and least comfortable teaching

-Why I chose Turkey and AGU

-If I feel comfortable being part of a program that's going through growing pains.

That's all I really remember. Good luck!

News of the end of the Ottoman Empire has not yet reached Kayseri.

The interviewer seemed nice in the interview, he told me that I would move forward for a 2nd interview. After a few hours passed he emailed me saying I wasn't fit for the position. I found it very disrespectful as he gave me high hopes.
