Yet another kidnap in what was once a great Country. Hope he'll be freed soon.

Kidnappings were pretty common even when Yemen was considered pretty safe for travel. Hopefully this one too will end with the teacher being released.

One interesting error was that AMIDEAST (where the AM stands for America) was referred to as the "British Institute of Languages."

Because it is a fascinating country? Because they like the idea of adventure? Not for me, but I know lots of teachers who had great experiences there over the years. But, I doubt most of them would venture there now. Sad for the people whose educations are being restricted.

A bit sadder for the teachers who get kidnapped or killed there...

Unfortunately peoples educations are restricted everywhere in Asia by cultures that are incompatible with Western education.

I didn't note anyone suggesting that it was great news for them... but the teachers that I know that have worked in Yemen left with great affection for their students and are naturally sad that their educations are being curtailed due to the activities of extremists.
