First, a bit of background:

I'm a 27 year-old man with a semi-related degree from a 4 year university and looking to get into teaching abroad. Initially, I had the idea that trying to get a position in Korea (seoul in particular) would be a good first step - I talked to an older friend who had done just that a few years ago.

But the more I investigated the profession and paths to entry, the more I became convinced that some sort of certification might help to boost my stock for potential employers. To be clear, I am looking for an experience first and not necessarily a means of attaining financial security; if I can make enough to pay for rent and food and maybe a bit of travel I will be happy.

From what I've read on these forums, the most valued certificates are CELTA; however, it also seems that most people place much value on programs that have actual teaching as a component of the course, which Canterbury does (in the form of 'paid internships')

So what does anyone think? If anyone has experience with the Canterbury course I would love feedback as to its personal value.
I don't know if I would go on to teach in Spain because of the posts I've read which indicate that getting a decent job in the EU is often very difficult if not impossible for non-residents. Mexico seems more ideal, particularly Guanajuato because of my connections in the state. (On the other hand, my friend told me she was able to save about 10,000 USD while in Seoul, so wages obviously go much farther there)

::phew:: A bit of a long-winded post, but I figured I would try to cover as many bases as possible. Any input is greatly appreciated


P.S - I am currently in the process of learning Spanish utilizing a well-know free web-based method, so the fact that the Canterbury course is held in Madrid seems like a bonus.
