A flight I would like to book has a 45 minute layover in Bahrain. Would I be able to transfer in time?

A 45-minute layover is iffy in any airport.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I thought thought maybe a small country like Bahrain would have a really small airport. And oddly, Gulf Air still uses paper tickets, the delivery of which may be problematic here in the boonies. Guess I'll just shell out a few more hundred and fly Etihad direct.

Small airports can also get bogged down depending on the volume of travelers requiring processing and security checks. Add to that late flights and the amount of time to physically get off your initial flight...

In my limited experience, regional flights don't always disembark at the terminal and you need to board a bus---which obviously takes longer.

BTW, IMHO that airport is a dump.

If the flight is on one booking reference number and the 45 mins comes from their booking system, then you are good as you will be put on the next flight - if available - without penalty. If the itinerary was booked on 2 airlines by yourself and is on different carriers, then you might miss your next flight and lose the value of that flight or pay a no-show penalty.

Certainly doable if the incoming flight is not late. The transfer area is fast and one only goes through security once and the directly downstairs and poof, you're in the middle of the departure area. I've transited Bahrain twice in the last year flying in on different metal and it's an efficient transfer area.
